How to Apply Funny Clown Faces
Whether you want to entertain children at a birthday party or you are planning to go as a funny clown for Halloween, you will need to take the right steps to apply clown makeup. Of several types of clowns, funny ones are most appropriate for children. Funny clowns are light-hearted, and their faces should reflect this quality. 1
Pull your hair up if you have long hair, and put on a shower cap to keep it out of your face. Wash and scrub your face gently with gentle soap and a clean washcloth to get rid of oil and dead skin. If you have dry skin, apply a moisturizer to your face.

2
Apply white grease paint all over your face with a makeup sponge or with your fingers. Make sure it is even all the way around. Brush baby powder all over the grease paint with a fluffy brush to set it and keep it in place.

3
Dip a fine-tipped makeup brush into red grease paint, and draw the outline of your mouth. Smile wide so you can see the creases in your face, and trace along these creases with the red paint. Funny clowns have big, red exaggerated smiles with rounded, upturned corners to make them look jolly.

4
Use your paint brush to mix together white and red grease paint in order to make pink paint. Smile again to reveal the "apples" of your cheeks, or the fleshiest part of your cheeks on either side of your nose. Paint a circle of pink on the apples of your cheeks.

Wash the brush off with baby oil to clean the previous color off, then dip a fine-tipped makeup brush into a dark color like navy blue or black, and draw a line to slightly exaggerate the arch of your eyebrows. This will make you appear even more silly and happy. Lightly apply baby powder to set the red, pink and blue grease paint.

6
Apply a small amount of spirit gum on the inside of the big red nose, and press it against the tip of your nose to make sure it sticks. If you don't want to use a big red plastic nose, paint a red circle on the end of your nose, and set it with the baby powder.
