1
Brush and comb your puppy's coat to remove any mats. Cover the bottom of your sink with a perforated non-skid mat. Adjust water temperature to just warmer than room temperature.
-
2
Set your puppy in the sink. Praise your puppy and give treats if necessary as you wet his coat. Do not get water in his face or ears. Massage dog shampoo into his coat. Take care to tangle the hair as little as possible as you lather. Rinse well using the spray nozzle. Apply conditioner and rinse.

3
Remove puppy from sink with a towel and gently squeeze and pat to remove excess water. Praise him and give him a treat.
Brush and Dry
-
4
Set puppy on a counter at a comfortable height. Gently brush his damp coat, removing any mats. Follow the brushing with a combing to further detangle.
-
5
Set dryer on low setting. Start with the dryer far from the puppy and slowly bring in until it's just close enough to dry his coat. Hold your hand against his skin often to check for high heat.
-
6
Use the hair dryer to remove water from the puppy's coat by allowing air to flow in the direction you want the hair to lie. Brush the hair as it is drying. Praise your puppy often, and reward him with treats.
-
7
Form a top knot by using the comb to part the puppy's coat in two rows, even with the inside edges of his eyes. Make a small tail of hair with this section and secure with a small coated elastic ponytail holder.
