Lay one yard of 60-inch fleece on a flat surface for an adult poncho. Using a rotary cutter, cut each half into a square shape.

Fold one square of fleece in half diagonally. Align all corners and edges and make sure that the fold is even.

Locate the middle of the folded edge of the fleece. Use chalk to mark three inches from the center on both sides of the middle mark.

Cut a semicircle pattern on the folded edge between the markings on either side of the middle. To make the semicircle even, use a bowl as a pattern.

Using a rotary cutter, cut fringe a half-inch wide by three inches long down the length of poncho, beginning at the top seam. Cut through both layers of fabric until you have reached the bottom edge.

Tie a knot in each piece of fringe. This will ensure that you can successfully place beads on the fringe in a later step.
