Instructions

    • 1

Lay one yard of 60-inch fleece on a flat surface for an adult poncho. Using a rotary cutter, cut each half into a square shape.

    • 2

Fold one square of fleece in half diagonally. Align all corners and edges and make sure that the fold is even.

    • 3

Locate the middle of the folded edge of the fleece. Use chalk to mark three inches from the center on both sides of the middle mark.

    • 4

Cut a semicircle pattern on the folded edge between the markings on either side of the middle. To make the semicircle even, use a bowl as a pattern.

    • 5

Using a rotary cutter, cut fringe a half-inch wide by three inches long down the length of poncho, beginning at the top seam. Cut through both layers of fabric until you have reached the bottom edge.

    • 6

Tie a knot in each piece of fringe. This will ensure that you can successfully place beads on the fringe in a later step.

    • 7

String one wooden bead on each fringe tassel. Tie a knot at the base of each fringe tassel for a frilly look and to keep the bead in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Decorate your poncho with appliqué, beads or add your own special details.

  • Fleece does not fray or ravel, so you do not need to hem it.
