How to Use Flea Collars & Comfortis

How to Use Flea Collars & Comfortis thumbnail
A puppy's health can be seriously compromised by fleas.

Fleas are small, extremely aggravating pests that often attach themselves to your dogs and outdoor cats. Once the fleas are brought into the house they multiply rapidly, quickly taking over your home, furniture and clothing. Ridding your home of the fleas becomes an expensive fix, so instead of paying an arm and a leg to rid your home of fleas, it is best to prevent the fleas from entering your home in the first place with the help of a flea collar and Comfortis pill.

Instructions

    • 1

Give your dog Comfortis once a month by either mixing it in with food or offering it as a treat. Comfortis is an FDA-approved supplement that protects a dog from fleas for one month at a time. You must receive a prescription form your vet; the dosage is based on the dog's weight.

Attach the flea collar around your pet's neck at the same time you give your animal Comfortis. The medication in the pill prevents eggs from hatching in the fur while the flea collar kills adult fleas.

Wash your hands after touching the flea collar. The medication in the collar may cause skin irritation.
