How to Create a Handkerchief Doll

You can create a simple doll out of a single handkerchief.

Dolls can be created in a wide variety of ways, including creating a doll out of a basic handkerchief. Handkerchief dolls can be made easily by people of any skill level, and does not require you to sew. This enables even young children to successfully create their own handkerchief doll. To create a handmade handkerchief doll, it is helpful to follow a few guidelines that will ensure that the handkerchief will resemble a whimsical doll.

Things You'll Need

• Large handkerchief
• Cotton batting

Instructions

1. Lay a handkerchief flat on a table or counter top.

2. Place a quarter-sized amount of cotton batting into the center of the handkerchief.

3. Grasp the handkerchief, and tie a knot in between the center and the rest of the handkerchief. This will create the doll's head.

4. Place the handkerchief doll onto the table or counter top with the head pointing away from you.

5. Gather together the handkerchief ends on the right side, and tie a small knot on the end. This will be the doll's right arm.

6. Gather together the handkerchief ends on the left side, and tie a small knot on the end. This will be the doll's left arm. The bottom of the handkerchief will hang down loosely to form a skirt.

7. Give your handkerchief doll to a loved one.
