      Register the domain name you choose at a site such as register.com or godaddy.com. Visit the website for the domain registry and type the domain name you picked into the box before ".com" on the page. Use the "find it" button to make sure the name is available. Pay the fee and claim your domain name.

      Use a site that provides a list of web hosts, such as webshosting.com, bighosts.com or webhostinggeeks.com. Choose a web hosting site, such as hostmonster.com or bluehost.com, from the list and click on it to begin creating a website.

      Pick a site type, such as Home or Business. Click the button after the correct type to start building your website. Place your registered domain name in the box provided to transfer your domain name from the site where you purchased it. Click the button that allows you to continue to the billing screen.
