Creating a 3D RPG character can be fun, but needs to be done correctly.

In 2008 alone, World of Warcraft managed to generate over $1 billion in revenue. This number is proof to Blizzard's success, as other Massively Multiplayer Online Games try to break into the $11 billion-dollar market hoping for the same results. Regardless of which game you play, character creation is a common step that will need to be fulfilled. This character creation step has been perfected by Blizzard and is a large contributor to the game's success. Making a character in such a game is a fun task, but you need to do so correctly to avoid wasting time.

Instructions

  1. Decide on The Faction

    • 1

Research the game that you are playing. Commonly, there are two to three different factions for which you can play. Take note of these factions and which one is "good" and which is "evil."

    • 2

Compare the factions. List the pros and cons of being on each faction. For instance, starting zones and the population of the faction on a specific server.

    • 3

Select the faction for which you want to play. Weigh these comparisons and which you feel would suit your personality and game play the best. If you are going to play with friends or family, consult them first.

    Customize The Character

    • 4

Cycle through the various features. Look at the different skin tones, eye colors, hair colors and other physical characteristics.

    • 5

Determine which variations you like. Make small mental notes about the different characteristics that you find appealing.

    • 6

Try these variations out. Alter these characteristics, ignoring the hair, until you find the ideal variation. Once you have made a final decision, proceed.

    • 7

Select the hairstyle that you want for your character. Again, cycle through these features and find a few that you like. Try each and decide on one, but make sure you rotate the character to see every angle of the hair.

    • 8

Review your character. Zoom out from the face angle and rotate the character in a circle. If you like the character, continue; if not, try out further variations.

    Name Your Character

    • 9

Brainstorm name ideas. Write these names down on a piece of paper to figure out what names you like best.

    • 10

Generate additional ideas from an online resource. Use a web-based generator to do this. Specify the type of name you want and click "Generate" or similar. A potential name will appear.

    • 11

Enter the name. Use one of the names that you brainstormed, one of the names generated by the web service or mix the two together to form a name. Click "Create" or similar, and your character will be generated.

Tips & Warnings

  • Spend a fair amount of time doing this. This is your character and you want it to look good. As long as you perform this task correctly the first time, you will not feel tempted to remake the character and lose all the levels that you have acquired while playing as this character.

  • When thinking of a name, think outside the box. Try to find a truly unique name that a lot of people would not think about. Even spelling your name backward works well.

  • Never rush the character creation process. If you decide later that you are unhappy with your character and remake him, you will lose the level of play that you have reached.
