How to Crochet Slippers for Kids
Cold floors on a chilly morning can be bracing to anyone, and especially so to small children. A soft and warm pair of slippers can be a welcome bit of coziness to keep little toes toasty. Crochet slippers for kids are a good project for a beginning crocheter, because you only need to know the chain stitch and single crochet to successfully finish the project. You can customize the slippers with pompoms, edging or any color combination that your child enjoys, and they can be finished in a couple of hours.
Instructions

1
Make a loop at the end of the yarn and chain stitch until the chain measures from your child's heel to the tip of her big toe. Make two more chain stitches and turn.
-
2
Single crochet in the second chain from the hook, and in every chain in the row until the end of the row. Chain one and then turn.

-
3
Single crochet in the second stitch in the row and in every stitch for the rest of the row. Chain one and then turn. Continue making single crochet rows in this manner until the crocheted piece can wrap around your child's foot, from the top of the foot underneath and then back up top, meeting in the middle.
-
4
Fasten off the yarn and clip it. Lay the crocheted piece on the table in front of you with the rows going horizontally.
-
5
Thread a yarn needle with a piece of yarn to match your slipper. Fold your crocheted piece in half horizontally, bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top edge.
-
6
Sew the left-hand edge of the folded piece from top to bottom, creating a straight seam. This will be the heel of the slipper.
-
7
Weave the needle and yarn through the stitches at the end of the rows on the right edge of the crocheted piece. Pull this yarn taut to gather all of the rows together into one bunch. Weave the needle back and forth through the gather to secure it. This will be the toe of the slipper.
-
8
Stitch 1/3 of the top edge closed, beginning with the gathered toe and finishing with the instep of the slipper.
-
9
Make another slipper exactly like the first one to complete your pair of slippers.
