How to Send Texts Over the Internet to a Cell Phone thumbnail
Send text messages over the Internet for free.

The ability to send text messages over the Internet is a cost-effective alternative to sending SMS from cell phones, particularly in situations where you’re phone is out of credit, or you’ve lost it or left it at home. The best part is that sending texts this way doesn’t cost you anything. However, keep in mind that the recipient may be charged by his carrier for receiving your SMS, so don’t get too excited.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to a website like Textem, SendSMSNow or SMSeverywhere. (See “Resources” section below.) These websites allow free SMS Texts.

    • 2

Enter the recipient’s phone number in the recipient phone number field.

    • 3

Type the message that you want to send in the “Message” box. Some websites allow 150 characters, while others allow 155.

    • 4

Click on “Send Message” or “Send.” Your text will then be sent to the cell phone number you entered.
