How to Remove a Skype Extension
When you downloaded Skype, unless you checked a particular box at one point during the installation, you also ended up with an extension on both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. If you have used either of these browsers since downloading Skype, you may have noticed that any phone numbers that appear in the Web pages you view are highlighted. If you click on one of these highlighted numbers, a Skype window will appear and offer to call the number. This feature is useful for some people, but if you find it annoying, you can easily remove the Skype extension.

1
Open either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
-
2
Click on the Skype icon on your browser. The icon, a white "S" with a blue background, should be on the far right side of the toolbar section of the browser. It will open a new window with several options, including the ability to select the country code for the current website and options to turn number and name highlighting off and on.

3
Click the “Uninstall” button on this new window. Another window will appear, asking if you are sure you want to remove the Skype extension. Click “OK” on this window.
-
4
Close all instances of your Web browser. The Skype extension has now been removed and your browser will operate normally when you reopen it.
-
5
Repeat this process with the other Web browser if you use both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and want to remove the extension from both.
