Remixing involves mixing audio together in order to create a new recording from the original version of the song. Remix artists chop up the song and combine the song in new and original ways. Techniques of remixing include changing the song's EQ, pitch or tempo, but remixing ultimately is limited to your own imagination.

Instructions

      Download and install Audacity. Right-click on an audio file. Click "Open with," and choose "Audacity." If Audacity is not in the list, click "Browse" and locate it. Select an area of the song, and click "Effects." Choose an effect to perform on the selected area. Chop up the song by pressing "Ctrl"+"X" to cut a section out. Click on an area of the audio. Press "Ctrl"+"V" to paste the section.

      Download and install the MP3 Remix plug-in for Windows Media Player. Play a song in Windows Media Player. Use the MP3 Remix plug-in to remix the song by adding loops. Record the results with Audacity, Wavosaur or Free Audio Recorder.

      Download and install the DFX Audio Enhancement plug-in for Windows Media Player. Play a song in Windows Media Player. The DFX Audio plug-in should automatically start. If it does not, click on the downward arrow under the "Now Playing" button in Windows Media Player. Select "Plug-ins," "Other" and click on the two DFX Audio entries. Use the DFX Audio plug-in to add fidelity, ambiance, dynamic boost and hyperbass to the song. Record the results with Audacity, Wavosaur or Free Audio Recorder.
