How to Sync Google Calender With Thunderbird

Thunderbird, an open-source email client designed by Mozilla, despite its relatively short lifespan, features access to a vast library of plug-ins and add-ons. Mozilla Thunderbird offers email access but lacks other features, such as calendaring, that Microsoft Outlook (a popular software alternative) offers. Lightning, a Mozilla Thunderbird plug-in, adds calendaring support to the software, and when used in conjunction with Provider for Google Calendar, allows integrated and synchronized support with Google Calendar.

Download the Lightning extension for Thunderbird (see Resources). Open Mozilla Thunderbird and click "Tools," then "Add-ons." Click "Install," then locate the Lightning download (by default, this will be stored in your browser's default directory). Click "Install" to install the plug-in. Click "Restart Thunderbird" to complete the installation.
