How to Plan a Firefighter Wedding
Use a firefighter theme for your wedding if either of you are firefighters or if you simply love the idea of a firefighter theme. Incorporate as many firefighter details as you want, or add small touches here and there. Firefighter elements, such as charms, can be used for even the most formal wedding. Use specific elements and colors for your firefighter theme so everything flows together.

1
Secure a location for your wedding. Your firehouse or fire hall, or a banquet hall or park are all perfect settings for a firefighter-themed wedding or reception.
-
2
Send firefighter-themed wedding invitations. Include cartoon images for a casual wedding or embossed images for a formal wedding. The images could be as simple as a firetruck, ax, helmet and boots, or fire hydrants.
-

3
Pick out your wedding attire. This could include a wedding gown with red, orange or gold details, and full dress blues for any firefighters involved with the wedding. The ring bearer could even wear fire gear and pull the flower girl down the aisle in a firetruck-themed wagon.
-
4
Include other firefighters in your wedding. For example, invite the chief to serve as your officiant or an official witness. Ask the groomsmen, particularly if they are firemen, to line up and hold pike poles for you to walk under after you're pronounced husband and wife.
-
5
Decorate your reception location using a firefighter color scheme by combining two or three common fire colors, such as red, orange, yellow, black, white or gold. Decorate with balloons, streamers, ladders, novelty fire hydrants and dalmatians. Your centerpieces could include a fireman's hat or boots, or a toy fire truck filled with roses or calla lilies in a burnt orange or red. Yellow caution tape can be used as well.
-
6
Opt for a firefighter-themed cake topper—or use any small plastic or porcelain figure or toy—to decorate a plain white wedding cake. Or have a groom's cake shaped like a fire truck, with a ladder leading up to the top of the cake where a bride figure can be waiting. For a formal wedding, top off a traditional white cake with burnt orange and red flowers.
-
7
Arrange for a fire truck to take you from your wedding ceremony to your reception, or to serve as your getaway car. Have a backup plan in case the vehicle is needed for an emergency, or rent a vintage fire truck specifically for your wedding.
-
8
Give your guests fire-related favors, such as cinnamon candy with the words "fire" or "hot" in their names, personal first-aid kits, flashlight key chains, or chocolate candies shaped like firefighter items, such as fire hydrants, helmets, trucks or boots.

Tips & Warnings
Have fun with your theme and set the tone by injecting your personality into your wedding. For example, avoid using caution tape or fire hydrants if your priority is a traditional, formal wedding.
