How to Join Ventrilo
Ventrilo is a voice-over-IP application commonly used amongst gamers. Users join Ventrilo servers with Ventrilo client applications on their computers; the server relays the users talking to other users on the Ventrilo server. Join a Ventrilo server using the free Ventrilo client application. Set up a user name so other users know who you are and enter the server's Internet address, port number and password.

Download and install the Ventrilo client program for your operating system if it isn't already installed (see Resources).

Open Ventrilo by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Ventrilo" and "Ventrilo."

Open the "Setup User" dialog by clicking the arrow button to the right of "User Name" in the "Ventrilo" window.

Create a user name by clicking "New" in the "Setup User" window, typing a user name for yourself, pressing "Enter" and clicking "OK" in the "Setup User" window.

Open the "Connection Editor" dialog by clicking the arrow button to the right of "Server" in the "Ventrilo" window.

Create a new server entry by clicking "New" in the "Connection Editor" window, typing a name to help you remember the server in the "Name" box and clicking "OK."

Type a Ventrilo server's Internet address into the "Hostname of IP" box in the "Connection Editor" window.

Type the port number of the Ventrilo server's Internet address into the "Port Number" box.

Type the password of the Ventrilo server, if required, into the "Password" box in the "Connection Editor" window and click "OK."

Connect to the configured Ventrilo server with your specified user name by clicking the "Connect" button in the "Ventrilo" window. Ventrilo remembers configured servers and user names, connect to the same server by clicking "Connect" the next time you start Ventrilo.
