Installing a Replacement Dell Laptop Battery

Your laptop battery is the device that stores and distributes power to your Dell laptop computer. If you think your battery has gone bad, it is time to replace it with a new one. New laptop batteries can be obtained at computer stores. Replacing your Dell laptop battery will require the use of a screwdriver. Replacing a Dell laptop battery will take you about 10 minutes to complete.

Things You'll Need

• Phillips head screwdriver

Instructions

1. Turn off your laptop and remove any peripheral devices, including the power cord.

2. Turn over your laptop and locate the battery chamber. It will be clearly located on the back of your Dell laptop.

3. Remove the screw securing the battery chamber cover, then remove the cover.

4. Remove the old battery from its storage bay.

5. Gently slide your new battery into the base, and be careful to not to touch the contacts of your new battery with your fingers.

6. Replace the cover on the battery chamber.

7. Plug in the power cord and allow your new battery to charge for at least two hours.
