How to Change Your WordPress Address

Take your blog content to any address you desire.

Although WordPress doesn't enable you to change the address of an existing blog, a straightforward workaround allows you to export all the contents of one blog to a new one. This will allow for all content from your WordPress blog to be accessible at a new address.

Things You'll Need

• Wordpress.com blog

Instructions

1. Log in to WordPress. On your dashboard, click "My blogs."

2. Click "Register another blog" in the lower right.

3. Choose your new address and blog title and click "Create blog."

4. Return to the dashboard of your original blog and click "Tools." Select "Export" from the drop-down menu.

5. Check that the filters are suitable and click "Download export file." Save the file to your computer.

6. Go to the dashboard of your new blog and click "Tools." Select "Import" from the drop-down menu. Choose "Wordpress" from the list of platforms.

7. Click the "Browse" button and locate the export file on your computer. Click "Upload file and import."

8. Check the "Download and import file attachments" box if you want photos transferred over to your new blog. Click "Submit."
