The Dell 720 photo printer is an entry-level color inkjet printer. The printer can print documents at speeds of up to 13 pages per minute in black and white and 8 pages per minute in color. You may experiences problems using the Dell 720 printer over the lifetime of the product. Luckily, many of the problems can be fixed using simple troubleshooting methods.

      Verify that your Dell 720 color printer is properly connected to your computer if your computer is not recognized. Disconnect the USB cable that connects the printer to your computer and unplug the printer's power cord. Restart your computer and reconnect the Dell printer to the computer. Plug the printer's power cord back into the electrical outlet and power on the printer. Print a test document.

      Remove any dislodged paper from your Dell 720 printer if you receive a message on your computer stating that you have a paper jam. Turn off the printer and locate the trapped paper. Gently pull the paper towards you. Check to ensure that you have cleaned out all of the dislodged paper before powering the printer back on.

      Ensure that your Dell 720 printer is not on hold if you find that the printer is not responding. Navigate to the lower left portion of your computer screen and click on the "Start" button. Open the "Control Panel" tab and click "Printers and Faxes". Click on the printer named "Dell Photo Printer 720" and uncheck the box next to the option titled "Pause Printing." Click the "OK" button at the lower right portion of the dialog box to finalize your settings.
