Flat-screen TVs are intended to be mounted to a wall. If you look on the back of a flat-screen TV, you will notice some screw holes. These holes are called VESA holes, and they are made specifically for mounting the TV on the wall. There are different VESA pattern threads for connecting a TV to a wall mount. Westinghouse is an accommodating brand, and their TVs have a variety of VESA pattern threads to accommodate a wide range of wall mounts.

Step 1

Gently lay the Westinghouse TV face-down on a flat surface that is covered with a blanket. Use a Philips screwdriver to unscrew the screws in the middle of the TV back, above the base. Pull the base out the bottom of the TV. Leave the TV lying face-down, because you will need it in this position for step 4.

Step 2

Find two vertical studs in the wall with a stud finder. After finding the studs, outline where they are using a pencil.

Step 3

Place the wall plate from the mounting kit against the wall so that the mounting holes are lined up over the wall studs. Position the wall plate where you want to mount the TV. Set a level over the top to make sure it's level. Have a friend hold the wall plate to the wall, then insert the lag bolts through the mounting holes of the wall plate and tighten them into the wall with a wrench.

Step 4

Set the mounting brackets from the wall mount kit on top of the back side of the TV. The TV should still be laying on its face from step 1. Line the VESA holes of the mounting bracket with the TV's VESA holes. Insert the VESA screws through the brackets into the TV. Tighten them with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 5

Have a friend help you carry the TV over to the mounted wall plate. Guide the TV so the brackets on the TV insert into the connections on the wall plate. Use the screwdriver to tighten the security bolt so that it holds the brackets together.
