How to Set Up Printer Sharing on XP

If you share a printer from your Windows XP computer, you enable other people on your local network to print from the printer as well. This is convenient if you use multiple computers or have several people who need to use a printer. Setting up printer sharing requires modifying a property of the printer that you want to share.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" button and then open the "Control Panel."

2. Open the "Printers and Faxes" section of the Control Panel.

3. Right-click on the printer that you want to share and click on the "Sharing..." button.

4. Click on the "Sharing" tab and then click on "Share this printer."

5. Type in a name for your shared printer and click the "OK" button. Your printer is now shared from your Windows XP computer.
