How to Donate Barbies
If you are interested in donating toys to children in need, you can donate Barbies to a variety of charitable organizations throughout the United States. You can find organizations that accept both new and used Barbies, though organizations that have a sanitary environment, such as hospitals, typically accept only donations of new Barbie. Regardless of the condition of your Barbies, you can easily donate them to a charitable organization in your area or to a national charity.

1
Clean up the Barbies if you are donating used ones. Make sure that there are no broken pieces, which could be dangerous for small children. If you have new Barbies to donate, make sure that they are still in their packaging.
-
2
Choose a charity to make your donation. For used Barbies, you can donate to charities that have thrift stores, such as Goodwill and Salvation Army. For new Barbies, look for a children's hospital, such as the Children's National Medical Center in Washington. You can use the Charity Vault website to identify charities in your area or you can use Donation Town to make your donation. Donation Town matches you with a charity in your area that can use the Barbies.

3
Contact the charity you have chosen to see how it accepts donations. Some charities offer a pick-up service, while others may require you to drop off the Barbies at a donation center or to mail them.
-
4
Make your Barbies donation in the approved method by the charity. If you want to claim the fair market value of the donation on your taxes, ask for a donation receipt. Keep in mind that fair market value is the amount you would be able to sell the Barbies for in the current market.
