How to Donate Barbies

Clean up the Barbies if you are donating used ones. Make sure that there are no broken pieces, which could be dangerous for small children. If you have new Barbies to donate, make sure that they are still in their packaging.

Choose a charity to make your donation. For used Barbies, you can donate to charities that have thrift stores, such as Goodwill and Salvation Army. For new Barbies, look for a children's hospital, such as the Children's National Medical Center in Washington. Make your Barbies donation in the approved method by the charity. If you want to claim the fair market value of the donation on your taxes, ask for a donation receipt. Keep in mind that fair market value is the amount you would be able to sell the Barbies for in the current market.
