How to Clean a HP LaserJet 1000
Laser printers provide excellent print quality, but only if they are properly maintained. Laser printers must be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis or the quality of the printouts will suffer. Over time, paper dust and toner residue build up, and if the printer is not cleaned properly, this residue will get on the paper and create problems with print quality. Learning how to clean your HP Laser Jet 1000 printer properly is the best way to keep it running smoothly.

1
Turn off the HP Laser Jet 1000 printer and allow it to sit for at least half an hour. The interior of the laser printer can get very hot.
-
2
Lift the toner cover door and remove the toner cartridge. Use a small vacuum cleaner to clean under where the toner cartridge was sitting. Paper dust and loose toner tend to accumulate under the toner cartridge. Use a small vacuum cleaner like the kind used to service computers.

3
Clean the entire interior of the printer using the same vacuum cleaner. Continue cleaning the printer until no more toner residue or paper dust is found.
-
4
Use a soft cloth to clean the interior of the printer one more time. The cloth will often pick up additional toner residue and paper dust that the vacuum cleaner misses.
-
5
Purchase a pack of laser printer cleaning sheets at your local office supply store. These specially designed sheets are slightly sticky, and as they move through the paper path they pick up dirt and other residue.
