How to Register for an MSN Live Messenger Account

MSN Messenger is now known as Windows Live Messenger. In order to use the messenger program, you'll need to set up a Windows Live account. Once you set up your free Windows Live account, you can download the messenger program and sign in to it using your username and password.

Instructions

1. Visit the Windows Live registration page (see Resources), then click "Sign Up." Determine if you want to use an existing email address to set up your account or if you want to create a MSN Hotmail account to use with the messenger program.

2. Select "Use My Email Address" if you want to use an existing email; select "Create a Free MSN Email" if you want to sign up for an MSN account. Click "Continue." If you are creating a new email account, follow the prompts to select a username and password.

3. Type the email address that you want to use with your messenger account. Create a password, choose a secret question, then type the "Captcha" code into the box. Click "Continue."

4. Type your email address into the box to "Sign" the digital agreement form. Click "I Agree" to create your account. You can now use the account to sign in to Windows Live Messenger.

5. Download Windows Live Messenger (see Resources). Follow the system prompts to install the program, then sign in using the email address and password that you set up.
