You can make a baby towel in a short amount of time

A baby towel is a nice gift for an expectant mother or a newborn baby. Although you can buy one at a retail store, it would be more meaningful if you make the towel yourself and personalize it for the recipient. The process of making a hooded baby towel is straightforward as you can make one with basic sewing skills. Your baby towel can be as simple or complex as you wish.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the hand towel in a horizontal position on a flat surface and cut it in half. You will use one half of the cut towel to make the hood on the baby towel. Reserve the other half for a future project.

    • 2

Spread the large towel on the floor or other flat surface, wrong side up. Center the cut hand towel, wrong side up, on one long edge of the large towel. Ensure that the finished edge of the cut hand towel is the edge resting against the long edge of the big towel. Pin both pieces together and sew.

    • 3

Bring the corners of the top edge of the hand towel together. Pin the edge and sew it shut to form the hood.

    • 4

Decorate the towel. Consider sewing appliqués to the right side of the towel. Some appropriate appliqués for babies include teddy bears, ducks, rattles and letters that spell out the baby’s name.
