How to Add to Firefox's Search Bar
The bar in Mozilla Firefox's top right corner allows you to access a variety of search engines. Instead of visiting each individual search engine's webpage to find the results you require, you can simply type a word or phrase into the search bar, select the search engine of your choice from the drop-down list and hit "Enter." In addition to the search engines Firefox comes with by default, you can add your own.

Tips & Warnings
Some webpages offer their own search engines to add to Firefox. If you click on the drop-down arrow in the Firefox search bar while on one of these sites, a special option appears. Just click "Add Website Search," where "Website" is the actual name of the site.
An add-on called "Add to Search Bar" allows you to add the search function from any webpage to Firefox's search box (see Resources). As of 2010, this add-on is compatible with Firefox versions 3 through 3.6.
