How to Remove the Search Bar in Firefox

Mozilla's Firefox web browser offers a number of ways to customize your Internet surfing experience. In addition to adding themes and add-ons, you can move, resize and remove Firefox's search bar. In Firefox's default state, the search bar sits in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  • Open Firefox. Click "View" and highlight "Toolbars" with your mouse.

  • Click "Customize" in the "Toolbars" menu. A "Customize Toolbar" box will open and your mouse pointer will change to a hand.

  • Left-click the search bar. Do not release the mouse button.

  • Drag the search bar onto the "Customize Toolbar" box. Release the left mouse button over the box to remove the search bar.

  • Click "Done."

Tips & Warnings

  • Restore your search bar by dragging it from the "Customize Toolbar" box and dropping it onto Firefox's toolbar.
  • Clicking "Restore Default Set" will also return your search bar.
