Create a free slideshow to feature your photos.

If you have a PC with Windows, or a Mac, you probably already have the programs necessary on your computer to make your own photo slideshow for free. MovieMaker and iMovie are both free downloads on the Windows and Apple official websites. Both programs allow you to take your photos from special events, vacations or images for a school or work project, and add audio, titles, credits and other features and make professional looking slideshows.

Instructions

  1. Windows MovieMaker

    • 1

Open MovieMaker. Click "Start a new project." Browse through your photos by clicking "Pictures," select the photos you want and select "Import." Drag the photos on the timeline to the order you want, and right-click each photo to adjust the number of seconds the photo will display.

Click "Audio/Music" and search for an MP3 music track on your computer, then click "Import." Click "Transitions" to browse the various special effects MovieMaker offers for moving from photo to photo.

Click "Title and Credits." Enter text to name your slideshow and give credit or acknowledgments to anyone featured in it or who helped in its production. Click "Preview" to check your slideshow for errors. Click "File," "Save As," then type in a name for your photo slideshow. Click "Save" to save the final file.

Click the iTunes icon, which is next to the iPhoto icon, and browse through the music in your iTunes library. Click and drag the track you want in front of the first photo in your slideshow (or wherever you want the music to begin playing). Click the "Transitions" icon and choose a transition, dragging each transition up in between photos in the timeline.

Click the "Title and Credits" icon (near "Transitions") and select one of the options. Enter the text for your title and any credits you wish to add for anyone featured in the slideshow, or who helped in its production. Click "Play" and check your slideshow for errors.
