How to Check a PC IP Address
An IP address is a unique number typically written in the dot decimal form, such as 197.12.23.153, that identifies each computer on the Internet. The IP address allows you to configure network settings and access to your PC on the Internet. Use the network utility program included in each Windows version to check the IP address of your computer.

Log into Windows.

Click "Start."

Type the command "cmd" in the "Search" field in the bottom of the Start menu and press "Enter"; it opens the command prompt window.

Type the command "ipconfig" in the command prompt window and press "Enter" to obtain the basic network information on your computer.

Scroll down the program output and locate the line "IP address" to find out the IP address on your PC; for example, "IP Address...197.12.23.153."
