Fold a piece of 9-by-11-inch cardstock in half. Examine the card and decide on a design, choosing between a vertical and horizontal card. You also want to choose your inside and outside fabric. Patterns work well for outside; inner fabrics should be solids.

Cut out two 10-by-12-inch pieces of fabric. Cut them out with pinking shears to add decoration to the edging. Open your cardstock card up and lay it face-down on a flat surface. Smear glue evenly over the card and press your outside fabric onto the card. Repeat inside the card. Let the glue dry overnight.

Cut two 7-by-5-inch pieces of white fabric. If you use regular scissors, fray the edges slightly for a vintage look. Spell out a holiday message or other greeting by with letter rubber stamps and an ink pad in the color of your choice. Allow the ink to dry for several minutes. Sign the card with a laundry pen.

Tips & Warnings
Make your card look truly handmade by sliding the edges through your sewing machine. Choose a contrasting thread color to make the stitches stand out.
Create pictures by cutting out parts of a larger pattern in your fabric or tracing around cookie cutters on solid fabric. If you have a light desk, place an image underneath muslin, trace it onto the fabric and color it in with acrylic paint or laundry pen.
Embellish the outside of your card with ribbon stripes, lace edging or criss-crossed ribbon finished with a bow.
