How to Convert a Sofa Into a Sleeper Sofa

Several furniture companies manufacture sofa sleepers in all shapes and sizes. From full size to king size, sleeper sofas give you an extra bed in your home to use for unexpected guests or your teenage daughter’s sleepover. To convert a sofa into a sleeper sofa takes a small amount of strength and an open area in the room to set the bed down. Once you convert the sofa to a sleeper, add some sheets, a blanket and a few pillows.

Instructions

1. Remove the sofa seat cushions and any other loose cushions from your sofa to expose the sleeper section underneath them.

2. Grasp the center of the sleeper section at the front of the sofa with both hands and pull the sleeper up and out. Continue to pull in this direction as the center legs of the sleeper automatically open, allowing you to set the sleeper sofa on the floor. The foot of the sleeper sofa will be folded onto the sofa mattress at this point in the conversion.

3. Unfold the foot of the sleeper sofa off of the sofa mattress. Depending on your model of sofa sleeper, the legs may open manually or automatically. Set the legs of the sofa sleeper on the floor.
