How to Make Snowmen Out of Styrofoam Balls
Snowmen add whimsical charm to Christmas and winter decorating, while creating a cheery ambiance to cold winter days in front of a fire with cocoa and marshmallows. They can be left out long after the holidays, as they provide an alternative to Santa, reindeer and a red-and-green color scheme. Make snowmen out of Styrofoam balls as ornaments to hang on your Christmas tree, added to a wreath or displayed on a hook.

1
Apply craft glue to the end of a toothpick and insert it halfway into a 1 1/2-inch Styrofoam ball. Apply glue to the other end of the toothpick and insert it into another 1 1/2-inch ball, pressing the two balls together. One ball is the snowman head and the other is the body.

2
Paint a 1-inch tip on a toothpick using orange acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry. Cut off the painted tip using heavy-duty scissors. This is the snowman's nose. Set the nose aside.

Add water to the snow texture medium and stir until you have a creamy, peanut butter consistency. Insert a wood skewer into the top of one ball to use as a handle. Apply the snow medium to the body and head using a stiff paintbrush. Cover the balls completely.

4
Sprinkle the wet snow medium with white or crystal glitter. Insert the cut end of the nose halfway into the center of the snowman's face. Push two black seed bead eyes into the snow texture above the nose and five seed beads below the nose in a smile shape. Allow the snow medium to dry for a couple of hours.

5
Cut a 2 1/2-inch-by-6-inch rectangle from felt. Form the rectangle into a tube, overlapping the short ends 1/2-inch. Apply hot glue in between the overlap. This is the back seam of the hat. Cut a 6-inch length of yarn. Gather one end of the tube closed with your hands. Wrap the yarn around the gathers 1/2 inch from the end and tie it into a knot. Bring the ends of the yarn together and tie them in an overhand knot. This makes a hanging loop between the hat and the ends of the yarn.

6
Fold up the other end of the tube 1/2-inch. This is the brim. Apply hot glue to the inside brim of the hat and place it on the snowman's head. Rip a 1/2-inch wide by 6-inch long strip of plaid flannel for a scarf. Tie the scarf around the snowman's neck.
