How to Convert an M4R File to an MP3
An M4R is a ringtone file, for use with iTunes and the iPhone by Apple. M4Rs are nothing more than MPEG-4 audio files. For this reason, it is easy to adjust the file extension, while keeping the audio file in tact. iTunes also includes an easy way to create MP3 versions of the songs in your library. Using these tips in conjunction, you can easily turn the M4R into an MP3 audio file.

2
Click the text of the M4R file within Windows Explorer or Finder to bring up the rename text editor. Delete “.m4r” and replace it with “.m4a.” Accept any warnings about changing the file extension.
