How to Draw a Cone in SketchUp
SketchUp is 3D modeling program offered by Google. It is frequently used to create 3D models of buildings, houses and machinery. Users can use the various tools of SketchUp to create any number of geometric or custom shapes. One shape that many users have a problem creating in SketchUp is a cone, since there is no obvious tool for doing this. However, by using several tools in concert, it is extremely simple to make a cone.

Open SketchUp. Select the default 2D figure in the scene and delete it.

Select the “Circle” tool from the toolbar on the left. Use it to draw a circle on the ground plane the size you want for the base of your cone.

Select the “Push/Pull” tool from the toolbar. Click on the circle you drew and use the tool to raise it to form a cylinder that is the same height that you want for the cone.

Select the “Scale” tool from the toolbar. Hold down the “Ctrl” key and click on one of the corner points at the top edge of the cylinder. Use the tool to reduce the size so the edges move toward the point in the center. You may have to zoom in several times to get the edge right at the center point.

Select “File” and click “Save.” In the dialog that appears, name your cone file and save it.
