Shut off the water after locating the sink's water source. Some newer faucets have a shut-off valve directly under the sink. If your Delta kitchen faucet is older, you may have to follow the line to the main water source in your house. Turn the valve clockwise until you hear the water stop flowing.

Place a rag in the drain to prevent you from losing any small parts.

    • 3

Remove the screw near the base of the handle using an Allen wrench. Twist the handle until it comes off.

    • 4

Twist the chrome dome around the faucet stem assembly off with your hand. If it won't move, wrap a rag around it and use adjustable pliers to remove it.

    • 5

Using a pair of pliers, gently twist the nut holding the stem components in place until it comes off.

Remove all piece of the stem assembly and inspect them for damage. Check the plastic covering on top of the ball joint and the rubber o-ring within the plastic covering. Look for signs of visible damage, such as marks, tears or abrasions. The o-ring is one of the most common sources of leaky faucets. Locate replacement parts from the Delta faucet repair kit, and replace them if necessary.

Remove the ball and inspect the inside of the faucet body for damage. There should be two to three small rubber o-rings and springs that you can pop out. Check each of these for visible damage and replace them with parts from the Delta faucet replacement kit if necessary.

Put all the parts together in the order you removed them. Lubricate all parts with plumber's grease as you put them back together. Remove the rag, turn the water back on and your faucet should be fixed.
