How to Remove Unwanted BearShare Spyware
BearShare is a peer-to-peer file-sharing program. Unfortunately, when one installs it he or she unwittingly installs spyware as well. Plus, like all peer-to-peer programs, it makes a computer vulnerable to even more spyware infections from misleadingly-titled files. Removing BearShare spyware should be done immediately to protect privacy and data.

Remove the BearShare spyware using Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool. This tool comes loaded on all computers running any Microsoft operating system released since Windows 2000. That includes Windows 7, Vista and XP. Users launch the tool by typing “MRT” (no quotes) into the Start menu’s “Run” dialogue, then hitting ENTER. Though “Quick Scan” is the default selection, the “Full Scan” conducts a more thorough search to fully remove any spyware. Note that the Microsoft website offers a free download of the tool in case you cannot locate it on your machine.

Remove the BearShare spyware using the Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner. This tool runs right off the Microsoft site, requiring no downloads or software. It searches one’s hard drive to find and remove the BearShare spyware. Microsoft recommends running the scan with Internet Explorer, but the Live OneCare site offers a plug-in to allow Firefox users to scan as well. Anyone performing this scan would be wise to close other applications before beginning to let it work with full power.

Remove the BearShare spyware using third-party software. These paid programs usually offer more thorough security than Microsoft’s tools. Symantec, AVG and McAfee are popular choices, but there are others. These tools will scan the entire hard drive for spyware, viruses and other bugs. Even after the BearShare spyware has been removed, they will run in the background to protect the hard drive from further attack.
