1
Place an assortment of cut flowers and greenery in a water-filled bucket. This will keep the flowers and greens fresh and hydrated while you assemble the flower girl baskets.
-
2
Submerge one or more bricks of floral foam into a water-filled bucket. The number of bricks you need depends on the number and size of flower girl baskets you are making. Let the floral foam soak in the water until it is fully saturated.

3
Insert plastic basket liners into your baskets. These will prevent any water from leaking out of the baskets while the flower girls carry them.
-
4
Pull the soaking wet floral foam out of the bucket. Place pieces of floral foam into the plastic liners in each of the baskets. Cut the foam with a knife as needed. Make sure the floral foam is snugly positioned in each basket; it should not wobble around.

5
Lift a piece of greenery out of the bucket. Cut its stem down to a length of between three and six inches using scissors. Insert the greenery stem into the floral foam of one basket. Position additional pieces of greenery in the basket; combine both short and long pieces. Use the greenery as a foundation for the flowers you will add later. Repeat this process with all of the flower girl baskets.

6
Remove a flower from the bucket. Trim its stem down to a length of about three to six inches using scissors. Insert the flower into the floral foam of one basket. Add additional flowers to the basket; use flowers of differing lengths and insert them at different depths for an intricate, dimensional look. Continue to add flowers until the basket appears full and lush, and there is no floral foam visible. Repeat this process with all the flower girl baskets.

7
Cut a two-foot long piece of ribbon. Tie the ribbon in a simple bow around the handle of a flower girl basket. Let the long tails of the ribbon hang down for a romantic, girlish effect. Do this with each of the flower girl baskets.

Tips & Warnings
For a harmonious look during the wedding ceremony, create flower girl baskets using flowers that coordinate with those carried by the bridesmaids.
Some flower girl baskets simply consist of loose flower petals, which a flower girl can toss while she walks down the aisle. If you are making this type of flower girl baskets, there is no need to line the baskets with plastic liners; simply fill them up with petals from the flowers of your choosing.
