How to Plan a Bermuda Destination Wedding
The island of Bermuda, located off the east coast of the United States in the Atlantic Ocean, is the ideal destination for couples looking for a tropical destination wedding. Miles of beaches and a moderate climate make Bermuda a wedding-friendly locale any time of year. Planning a wedding in Bermuda presents some challenges, but couples should follow basic wedding planning guidelines even when planning a wedding internationally.

1
Decide whether you want a civil or religious ceremony. Bermuda offers more churches per square mile than any country in the world, according to Bermuda 4 U, so there are many options for religious ceremonies. Ministers will also perform ceremonies, both religious and civil, outdoors so that couples can take advantage of the island’s natural beauty.

2
Find a venue for your ceremony and reception. Bermuda offers a number of venues for every bride and groom’s tastes. Formal affairs can take place in ballrooms at hotels like the Fairmont Southampton, or couples can marry directly on the beach. Bermuda venues also include boats or historic properties like Waterville.

Work with a wedding planner to find vendors. Planning a destination wedding can be challenging if you aren’t familiar with Bermuda. A local wedding planner can help identify trustworthy vendors that work with your budget. Companies like Bermuda Bride and The Bridal Suite can set you up with an experienced wedding planner to help you select everything from a florist to an officiant.

Fill out a Notice of Intended Marriage form. This form authorizes the couple to marry in Bermuda and gives them a marriage license valid for three months. On the form, the couple lists their full names, occupation, age, location and place of intended marriage. As of July 2010, the form cost $330.

5
Look for accommodations for you and your guests. Bermuda offers a range of accommodations, from resort hotels to bed and breakfasts and cozy inns and cottages. Ask for a group rate—since you’ll likely be booking many rooms for you and your guests, you might be able to get a discount.
-
6
Find two witnesses. Even if you are eloping, you need at least two witnesses over the age of 18 at your wedding ceremony. Bermuda’s registry can provide witnesses Monday to Friday at no charge.
