Instructions

  1. Cheese and Liver Recipe

    • 1

Purchase 5 lbs. of old cheese or an assortment of fresh cheese. Allow the fresh cheese to sit outside the fridge for a few days and spoil a bit.

    • 2

Cut the cheese into chunks measuring about 1 inch cubed. Use a regular butter knife to cut the cheese into the chunks and place them inside a clean 5-gallon bucket.

    • 3

Pour boiling water over the cheese chunks. Add only enough boiling water to cover the top cheese chunks and use a potato masher to mash the cheese into a thick paste in the bucket.

    • 4

Place 3 lbs. of fresh chicken liver in a blender. Dump the entire contents of the chicken liver container, including any blood and fat, into the blender. Grind the chicken liver into a thick pulp and pour it into the bucket with the cheese.

    • 5

Mix the cheese and chicken liver pulp thoroughly with a large spoon and cover with the bucket lid. Squeeze in the sides of the bucket before snapping the lid completely into place.

    • 6

Set the full bucket in the sun and allow it to set for several days in a hot location. The bucket sides should start to expand as the mixture creates gasses from sitting in the sun. Wait two or three days before opening the bucket.

    • 7

Add flour to the mixture to create pliable dough. Add a small amount of flour at a time and mix the flour in with a spoon until you have a thick paste you can easily roll into small balls to place on a fishing hook.

Liver, Cheese and Corn Flake Bait

    • 8

Place 3 lbs. of partially frozen chicken livers into a blender and add 4 cups of regular corn flakes. Blend the mixture to create a thick, chunky paste.

    • 9

Add 1/2 cup of garlic powder, 1/3 cup of cubed cheddar cheese and 2/3 cups of molasses to the blender. Turn the blender on a low setting and thoroughly mix all the ingredients.

    • 10

Spoon the mixture out of the blender with a regular tablespoon. Divide the bait into sizes for single fishing trips and place the bait in resealable sandwich bags. Freeze the bags of bait and thaw out a bag or two each time you go on a catfishing trip.
