How to Erase Music on My Used iPod Without an Automatic Sync

Manually manage your iPod to erase tracks.

To a music lover, nothing is as infuriating as having iTunes automatically sync your iPod without your knowledge. It may remove all your precious music tracks and add new ones that you do not necessarily want on your iPod. Thankfully, you can manually manage your iPod so that you can pick and choose the music tracks on it. Properly adjust the settings on your iTunes application to erase tracks on your iPod that you—not iTunes—select.

Instructions

1. Connect the iPod USB cable to your computer and the iPod itself.

2. Open the iTunes application.

3. Click the iPod icon on the left side of iTunes underneath the "Devices" category.

4. Click the box next to "Manually manage music and videos," then click "Apply."

5. Right-click the tracks on the iPod that you want to remove and select "Delete." The track is now removed from the iPod.
