You can use a hanger to gift wrap a sweater.

When you don't have a box, use a hanger and some shiny aluminum foil to wrap a sweater. Use your imagination and some common household items to decorate your gift with a personalized message, or create something silly that will be remembered for a long time. Instructions

    • 1

Find a hanger that is sturdy and hang the sweater on it. Lay the sweater and hanger on a flat surface.

    • 2

Cut two sheets of aluminum foil the length of the sweater for a small sweater; cut four sheets for a larger sweater. Cut twice the amount for each size if you need two sheets to cover the width of the sweater. Lay two sheets of foil on top of each other with the shiny sides together. Or, crumple up the sheets of foil before smoothing them out a little and laying them on top of each other with the shiny sides out to reflect the light for a sparkle.

    • 3

Fasten the two sheets together when using two to cover the width of a sweater. Fold the edges of the foil on one of the sides together. Open the sheets and lay them flat so that the two sheets make up one larger sheet for the top layer of wrapping. Repeat with the other two sheets to make the bottom layer of wrapping.

    • 4

Slide one section of foil underneath the sweater and hanger hook, shiny side out, and place the other section over the sweater and hanger, also shiny side out. Fasten the two sections of foil together, top and bottom first, by folding the edges of the foil together. Fasten the side edges, starting from the bottom and ending at the hook, and fold the foil over the hook so that the entire hanger is covered.

    • 5

Decorate the tin foil by adding lace, bows or ribbon around the neck of the hanger. Adorn with personal touches, such as a photograph of yourself with your friend, or print out or use a magazine or comical image of something special that your gift recipient loves. Add an old hat and a used necklace to make the present come to life, if you want to add a different twist.
