How to Make Money on a New Idea
Whether you've come up with a concept for a brand new business or have invented something the people of this world cannot live without, new ideas of all sorts have the potential to earn money. Depending on the format of the idea and work involved, there may be several paths to earning revenue on your idea, including Internet sales, royalties, sale of rights to a corporation and many more. Making money on a new idea, no matter what it is though, will require research, effort and patience.

1
Patent your idea or invention through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. To register for a patent with the USPTO is to register your idea with the federal government. A patent ensures that you are the only one who can profit from the production and sale of your product. This step is essential before introducing your idea to any business market. Otherwise, unprotected products can be copied by competitors who can sell it legally, taking away profit from you.

2
Manufacture and sell your invention or product idea yourself. This will be infeasible for complex machinery or very expensive, complex products, but if your idea can be produced within your own home, consider making inventory and selling it yourself. You will need to fund the start-up costs, but if the product sales take off, the benefits could far outweigh these initial funds.

3
Sell your idea to a corporation. Many established companies who already do business in the sector where your new idea or product would fit may be more prepared to put the idea into production faster, getting it to the consumers quicker. After patenting your idea, creating a professional presentation about it and approaching a corporation to buy the idea may be a more fiscally responsible avenue for you to take. You could choose to sell the entire rights to the company for one lump sum, or you could come up with an agreement for royalties. Royalties mean that you are paid a small price for every sale of the item which the corporation successfully oversees.

4
Start your own business. There are many different business structures available which could help turn your idea into a legitimate money-making venture. Start your own part-time business from home. Get a loan and buy the production equipment you need to produce the product yourself. Hire advocates and employees to sell your idea at malls, homes and trade shows. Open a website to introduce your idea to the market and take electronic sales.
