How to Take Care of Your Furby

How to Take Care of Your Furby thumbnail
Use a damp cloth or rag to clean your Furby.

A stuffed animal that talks, sings and dances, a Furby also tells jokes and plays games with your child, friends and family. The toy contains a microprocessor that controls its functions; and a resetting component to correct any problems you or your child may be having with the stuffed animal. Like other toys, you need to care for your Furby, including changing the toy's batteries, cleaning the toy and interacting with the toy when it is prompting you to feed it.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

  1. Changing Batteries

    • 1

Hold down your Furby's mouth with your finger as you turn the toy upside down and locate the battery door. The mouth serves as a resetting switch for your Furby and ensures the device will function properly once batteries are installed.

    • 2

Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screw from the battery door. Do not release your finger from the toy's mouth. Place the battery door to the side.

    • 3

Insert four AA batteries into the toy according to the diagram on the battery door or the wording in the toy's battery tray.

    • 4

Place the battery door back in the toy. Tighten the door's screw. Release your finger from your Furby's mouth. The toy will start talking. If not, move the power switch on the bottom of the toy to the “On” position.

    Cleaning Your Furby

    • 5

Use a soft-bristle brush to remove any loose dust and dirt from your Furby's hair.

    • 6

Wet a soft cloth or rag with 3 tbsp. of lukewarm water from a sink. Wring out excess water.

    • 7

Wipe any stains from your Furby using the damp cloth or rag. Do not place the toy in a sink of water or in a washing machine.

    • 8

Pat the toy dry with a clean, soft cloth or rag.

    Feeding Your Furby

    • 9

Stick your finger or a plastic spoon in your Furby's mouth when the toy is prompting you with "Me hungry" or "Kah a-tay."

    • 10

Press down on your Furby's tongue with your finger or spoon to feed the toy.

    • 11

Remove your finger or spoon when he prompts you with "Me done" or "Kah toh-dye."

Tips & Warnings

  • To reset your Furby, turn the toy upside down and turn the “On/Off” switch to “Off” then to “On.”

  • Do not use soap, detergent, a stain remover or other chemical to clean your Furby. These substances will damage the toy.

  • Keep your Furby out of direct sunlight and away from high temperatures--these conditions will damage the toy.
