Connect the widescreen TV using composite AV cables for a DVD player and Direct TV.

A Direct TV satellite receiver and a separate DVD player can each be connected directly to a widescreen TV using standard composite audio-video (AV) cables with 1/4-inch plugs on each end. The plugs are color coded to match the jack connections for simplified setup. Once the components are hooked up, the TV remote control can be used to switch between the satellite receiver and the DVD player. Widescreen TVs are equipped with several sets of AV inputs to connect these components.
