How to Get Discontinued Lenox Crystal Stemware

Walter Scott Lenox founded the Lenox Ceramic Art Co. in 1889. The company first produced ivory china items; it later began producing crystal stemware. Although Lenox crystal stemware is still available in retail stores, once a pattern has been discontinued, it can be difficult to locate pieces to replace broken items or add to your set. If you know the name of your Lenox crystal stemware pattern, there are a few tricks that can help you locate discontinued pieces.

    • 1

Check the Lenox company's website to see if your stemware was recently discontinued. The company typically retires patterns on Feb. 1 or Aug. 1 each year. Items can be ordered through the company as long as stock is available.

    • 2

Visit websites that offer crystal stemware replacement, including discontinued patterns. Examples of websites include Replacements.com, Tabletop Designs.com and DiscontinuedCrystal.com. Enter the name of your Lenox stemware pattern in the search box, and a list of available items will come up.

    • 3

Go to antique stores and collectors’ shows that feature items for the home, including crystal. (Find nearby collector shows by doing an Internet search or checking local event listings.) Call ahead and inquire if they have any Lenox crystal stemware in your pattern. If not, ask if the vendor will write down your contact information and the pattern and pieces you want, and let you know if they find the pieces. These dealers also may be able to recommend other stores or dealers that might have the pattern you want.

    • 4

Check online auction websites such as eBay.com and Bonanzle.com for your Lenox crystal stemware pattern. Before bidding on an item you find, inquire about the item's condition and ask the seller to provide several detailed pictures. Make sure the stemware will be insured when it is shipped to you. Only work with sellers who have a strong rating from other buyers. Request a refund or satisfaction guarantee to protect yourself in case anything is wrong with the stemware when it is shipped to you.

Look at online antique retail stores, many of which offer discontinued crystal pieces, including Lenox. Examples of websites include RubyLane.com and RMSterling.com. Do a search on the pattern name or “discontinued Lenox crystal” to view each site's current inventory.
