Making Ring Bearer Pillows

Making Ring Bearer Pillows thumbnail
Carry the wedding bands in style.

Ensure your ringbearer walks down the aisle in style. Give him a pillow that perfectly matches your wedding décor. Pillow forms, available at both craft and home decorating stores, allow you to quickly make a pillow that is just the right size for small hands, and will showcase your wedding bands. Satin, velvet or other decorator fabrics allow you to make a simple yet sophisticated ringbearer pillow. If you desire, add further embellishment.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out two 10-inch squares of fabric. Stack the fabric squares on top of each other, right sides facing in, and pin the edges together.

    • 2

Sew the fabric together on three sides, leaving one side open. Leave a ¼-inch seam allowance on each side.

    • 3

Cut off each corner to within 1/8 inch of the stitches. Turn the fabric right side out through the open side and push out the corners with a pencil or ruler. This is the pillow cover.

    • 4

Slide a 9-inch square pillow form into the pillow cover. Fold the raw edges on the open side in and stitch the fourth side closed on your sewing machine or by hand, sewing as close to the folded edge as possible.

    • 5

Pin a tassel to each corner. Hand stitch the tassels to the corners then flip the pillow over so the tassels stitches are on the bottom of the pillow.

    • 6

Cut a 2-foot length of ½-inch wide satin ribbon. Hand stitch the center of the ribbon to the center of the pillow. Tie the rings to the center of the pillow with the ribbon, tying the ribbon in an attractive bow.

Tips & Warnings

  • Further embellish the pillow with bead work or lace, if desired.

  • Embroider the pillow with the bride and groom's monogram, or stencil the monogram on with fabric paint.
