How to Download Songs from Shared iTunes

With iTunes Home Sharing, you can stream and download iTunes media from other computers over your home network. Streaming is useful to those who wish to listen to or watch media from other computers but not download the content. If you want to download songs or movies, the process is as simple as dragging and dropping files. This makes storing, transferring and maintaining your iTunes media library across multiple computers easy and convenient.

Instructions

1. Open iTunes.

2. Set up an iTunes store account if you don't have one. Click "Store" on the menu bar and then select "Create Account." Follow the on-screen prompts and input your billing information to complete the process.

3. Click "Advanced" in the menu bar and select "Enable Home Sharing" from the drop-down menu. The "Home Sharing Login" will appear. Enter your Apple ID and password and select "Enable Home Share" to finish. Repeat this step for every computer you wish to add to your iTunes Home Sharing list. Log in using the same Apple ID.

4. View the other computers on your network in the left pane of your iTunes window under the "Shared" heading. Click on a computer's name to access its library.

5. Drag and drop the files from the shared library to your music library to download them.

6. Turn off Home Sharing by clicking "Advanced" on the menu bar and selecting "Turn Off Home Sharing."
