How to Retrieve Jewelry From a Shower Drain
Recovering jewelry from a shower drain isn’t as difficult as it may sound. Instead of calling a plumber or other professional, you can easily get your jewelry out of the drain with a trip to your local hardware store. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Towel
- Flathead screwdriver
- Phillips screwdriver
- Telescoping magnetic pointer

Use a towel to dry the area around the drain.

Unscrew the drain stopper from the drain if the shower has one. If you have a multi-hole drain, use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the drain cover onto the bottom of the shower and then lift it up to remove.

Find the central screw about a half an inch down the drain if you have a drain stopper in your shower.

Unscrew the central screw with the screwdriver. Pry the drain cover off the drain by placing the flathead screwdriver between the drain cover and the bottom of the shower.

Extend the telescoping magnetic pointer to the longest length possible. Put the pointer into the drain until you feel it grab onto the jewelry. Raise the pointer out of the drain to recover your jewelry.

Tips & Warnings
A telescoping magnetic pointer is best to get jewelry out of a shower drain. This tool resembles a car antenna with a magnet on the end and can be purchased at any hardware store.
