How to Remove Odyssey Client From the Startup in a Dell Axim thumbnail
The Odyssey Client lets your Axim connect to a network.

The Dell Axim line of PDA devices includes the Odyssey Client software from the factory, which is Dell's network connection software. The Odyssey Client automatically starts each time you turn on the Axim, which uses up system resources. If you want to free up the space, or you want to connect to a network with a different type of software, it's possible to remove Odyssey Client. You can also just prevent the software from loading on startup, which only takes a few taps.

Instructions

    • 1

Tap the "Start" menu on your Dell Axim. Tap the "Settings" entry in the menu. Navigate to the "Settings" tab labeled "Connections."

    • 2

Tap the "Odyssey Client" icon. Tap the "Settings" button and choose the "Disable Odyssey" option to prevent the Odyssey Client from running when you start up the Dell Axim.

    • 3

Exit the menu screen and tap the "Start" button again if you want to completely remove the Odyssey Client software from your Dell Axim. Tap the "Settings" entry and choose the "System" button.

    • 4

Tap the "Remove Programs" entry. Scroll down to the "Odyssey Client" entry in the list of programs installed on your Dell Axim.

    • 5

Tap and hold the "Odyssey Client" entry and tap "Delete." Turn off the Dell Axim and turn it back on again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you remove the Odyssey Client, you will need to connect to a network using the built-in Windows Mobile networking feature instead. Navigate to "Start," tap "Connections" and choose "Settings." Tap "Network Cards" and choose the "Internet" option. Tap the "Dell Axim WLAN Wireless Adapter" option. Tap "OK" to begin detecting any nearby wireless networks to connect with.

  • The Odyssey Client software is available for download from the Dell support website if you later want to use the program again. Download the software and connect your Axim to your computer normally using the USB cable, docking cradle or Bluetooth connection. Open the Dell Axim ActiveSync software on your computer and follow the onscreen prompts to transfer the software. If you haven't installed the ActiveSync software yet, insert the disc that came with the Axim into your computer's disc drive and follow the onscreen directions.
