Connect your Microsoft XBox 360 controller to your Windows-based computer.

One of the features that comes along with purchasing a Microsoft XBox 360 is that many of the hardware attachments used on the gaming system also work on a Windows-based PC. This includes the wired controller commonly used on the XBox. With the provided hardware that came with your XBox 360 purchase you have all the necessary software and hardware to perform the connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the installation CD into the disc drive of your computer. This installation CD came with your XBox 360. In a moment the installation wizard loads onto the screen.

    • 2

Click "Install" when the prompt appears and the installation CD uploads the necessary files to your Windows computer.

    • 3

Plug the USB data cable running out of your wired XBox 360 controller into one of the USB ports on your computer.

    • 4

Click the "Start" button, then either choose "Run" or press "Windows" and "R" at the same time. Type in "joy.cpl" and press "OK". Choose the XBox 360 controller from the joystick list, then click "Properties". From the properties window, click the trigger button on the wired controller. Once the computer detects the device you are all set to begin using it on any of your PC-based video games.
