How to Tie Wedding Ribbons
Decorating your wedding invitations or bouquet with a beautiful ribbon adds style, class and personality. Bows are commonly used in weddings. You can find them on seating at wedding receptions, on the pews at a church, on doors and even on some brides' dresses. Therefore, understanding how to tie a wedding ribbon will come in handy.
Instructions

Puffy Bow

1
Pick your ribbon color. Purchase enough yards of ribbon to complete the task. For example, to add a ribbon to an invitation, you will need 14 inches of ribbon, whereas you will need at least 3 yards of ribbon to add a bow to a pew or chair.
-
2
Cut the ribbon so that it is four times the length of your item.
-
-
3
Using your hand, wrap the ribbon around your four fingers. Fold the loop in half and put your finger in the middle of the loop to hold the crease in place.
-
4
Cut the edges of the folded loop to form the shape of a “V.” Pay special attention not to cut through the loop.
-
5
Open the loop to reveal the “V” shape. Add a stickpin to the middle of the loop to keep it from unraveling. Cut a fine piece of ribbon 2 inches wider than the item you want to attach the bow to and wrap it between the loops. The ribbon should fall into the grooves of the “V” shape you cut in Step 4.
-
6
Tie the fine piece of ribbon to keep the loops secure. Fan out the loops one by one in a circular formation until all the loops are open. Attach the two ends of the fine ribbon to an invitation, bouquet or an arm as a corsage.

Complete Step 1 in Section 1. Cut the ribbon three times the length of your item. Cut the ribbon 3 to 5 inches longer if you are draping a chair or hanging the bow above a door.
-
8
Pinch the middle of the ribbon and make a loop with the left side of the ribbon. Bring the end of the loop back to the middle of the ribbon where your thumb originally was located, and hold the end with your thumb.
-
9
Using your other hand, make a loop with the right end of the ribbon. Cross the left loop over the right loop, forming a circle. Bend the left loop over the right loop and pull it through the circle.
-
10
Pull both ends of the loops to make a bow. Fan out both loops to make the bow look wider and neater. Cut the two ends of the remaining ribbon on an angle for a cleaner look.
