How to Create a Towel Cake
Towel cakes are often used as centerpieces for bridal showers. The towel cake functions as a centerpiece as well as a gift to the bride. The towel cake gives the bride a nice set of towels to take home, and it can be decorated with other items that she can use in her home, such as soaps and lotions. After folding the towels properly, stack them to create a three-tiered "wedding cake."

Things You'll Need
- 2 white bath towels
- Safety pins
- Cake serving tray
- Satin ribbon
- 2 hand towels
- 2 washcloths
- Gift bow

Spread out one white towel lengthwise on a flat surface. Smooth out any wrinkles in the towel.

Fold the towel into thirds along the length. Make the folds even, so that the ends will remain even when you finish folding the towel.

Fold the towel in half along its length over the folds. Inspect the ends to make sure that they remain even.

Fold another white towel the same way. Pin one end of each of the folded white towels together with two safety pins. The towels now are attached together.

Roll the towels into a cylinder shape. Starting at one end, roll the towels together into a large cylindrical shape as tightly and evenly as possible.

Place the rolled towels onto a cake-serving tray. Place the towels on the tray, with the end that does not show the towel edges facing up.

Tie a piece of satin ribbon around the towels. Start with a piece of ribbon long enough to finish by tying a large bow.

Repeat the same process with 2 hand towels and then with 2 washcloths. You will fold them in the same way that you folded the large towels, connect them together with safety pins, and roll them into cylindrical shapes. Tie the satin ribbon around the middle of each set of rolled towels, to keep them from unrolling.

Stack the towel layers on top of each other. Place the hand towels on top of the bath towels, and then place the washcloths on top of the hand towels.

Place a large gift bow on top of the towel cake.
